“Jeremy! Finally, you decided to show up!” Martin said joking as the two shook hands. “Jeremy, this is Miss Chrissy McCann. Hopefully your soon to be co-star. Chrissy, this is…” “Jeremy Sumpter. Lives in California, has two sisters, and a dog named Bear.” Chrissy said trying to stare Jeremy down. “You have a dog?” Martin asked and Jeremy just nodded his head, staring back at Chris with a little smirk on his face. “Well, you two already know each other! This is wonderful!” Martin said pleased, obviously not noticing the tension between the two. Chris turned to Martin. “I’m sorry Mr. Maloney. I really don’t have time to fit a movie into my schedule. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule for discussing it with me. I really appreciate it.” Chris shook his hand. “Alright Chris, maybe some other time.” Martin smiled at her and she smiled back and headed out of the restaurant without one look at Jeremy. A few minutes after walking down the street Jeremy caught up with her and stopped her. “Why aren’t you going got do the movie!” “I think you know why Jeremy. I just can’t work with you, it wouldn’t be right. My dancing and plays comes first, not movies.” “But Chris…” “No Jer. I would have to be your co-star. I would have to act like I loved you…” “But it wouldn’t be acting.” Jeremy said seriously. “Jeremy! Arg! I can’t believe I am even going to give this to you.” Chrissy grunted as she dug into her purse and handed Jeremy a piece of paper, it was a rough draft of her wedding invitation. “You’re inviting me to your wedding?” Jeremy asked shocked. “NO! Jake… is inviting you to our wedding. He said in would be nice since I am inviting the rest of your family. And it’s a while always anyway, so if you can’t make it, that’s fine with me. And if you do come… you better not do anything stupid!” Chrissy said and she walked away from Jeremy, leaving him smirking as he watched Chris walk away, only he knowing what was going through his head.
It had been a couple of weeks since Chrissy and Jeremy had seen each other. Chris tried to keep herself distracted with wedding preparations and her shows… anything to keep her mind off Jeremy. Hey, it worked six years ago, why not now? She was fussing around her apartment trying to find her matching flip flop when there was a knock on her door. Chris set her shoes on the floor and jogged toward the door. When she opened it she got the best surprise of her life. “Jess!!!” “Chrissy!” Jess held out her arms and they gave each other a big hug. “Oh my gosh! What the hell are you doing here?” Chris asked excited as she picked up some of Jess’ bags and brought them into her house. “Well, you know, thought I’d surprise one of my best friends.” “OoO, Where is the surprise?” Chris looked behind Jess’ back jokingly. “Haha, I’m only kidding. Man, it’s so good to see you.” Chris gave her another hug. It was nice seeing one of her bestest friends through all this commotion in her life. “Well, I was heading out to go try and find a wedding dress. Care to join me?” “Are you kidding? Duh! All you have to mention is anything to do with shopping and I’m there!” The two girls laughed as they headed out the door. The girls chatted it up on everything that one another was missing. Chris found out that Jess had recently gotten engaged to her lover of five years. Chrissy told Jess that she and Jake wanted to have their wedding at a fancy hotel in the Bahamas right by the beach and that they were going to pay for everyone’s flights. “But they better be givin’ some expensive wedding gifts!” Chrissy said jokingly. The two finally made it into a bridal shop and started browsing for the ‘perfect’ dress. One of the shop ladies, who was around Chris’ age, started to help her out in finding the dress by asking her questions of what she wanted. She tried on a few but, they didn’t seem right, there were little thing here and there that were missing. She saw a dress in the back and decided to take it into the dressing room. While Chris was taking her precious time changing, Jess had gotten a call from Jeremy. Without even thinking, Jess had told her brother where she was. About ten minutes later Jess went over to the dressing room curtain. “Chris, come on… how long can it possibly take to put on a dress?” “Hang on Jess. Just give me a sec.” Chris yelled back as Jess let out a huff. A few minutes later Chrissy gave herself one last look in the mirror before heading out to show herself off. Chrissy slowly pulled the curtain away as she stepped out shyly with her head down. The swoosh the train of her dress made came to a stop as she still looked down saying, “Well, what do you think?” “You look like a princess.” But instead of hearing Jess’ voice, she heard one of a make… a very familiar male. Chris looked up and found piercing blue eyes looking all over her, until they met her own. “You look beautiful Chris. You’re going to make your prince charming a very happy man.” Chrissy looked at Jeremy in the eyes, trying to see what he was thinking, but unfortunately she didn’t have that talent like Jeremy did. But she really looked at him, and took to heart what he had to say. For some reason she was feeling a little sad, like she… No! She was not contemplating her decision. To finally stop the intense staring between the two Chris said somewhat sadly, “Thanks.” Jeremy gave her a sad smile back, but that was it. Not one to make her knees go weak, or make her heart melt. Or even a gleam in his eyes to make her brain go haywire. It was just plain and simple heartbroken sadness. “Well, come on Chris, let me take a look.” Jess grabbed Chris’ hand and led her to three mirrors that were placed next to each other. Chrissy stood in front of it while the lady looked over the dress on her, seeing how much tailoring it would need. As Jess complemented how good it looked, Chris stared at herself taking in what she saw. Shouldn’t she be beaming with happiness, instead of picking out all the little flaws in herself? She took a peek in the mirror every so often and saw Jeremy leaning against a wall, arms crossed, just looking at her; seeing the one thing that he couldn’t have but wanted the most. Chris took another peak and saw that Jeremy was no longer there. “I don’t know Jess, if feel like something is missing.” She said looking herself over. “Try this.” She heard Jeremy’s voice and turned and looked at Jeremy. “Close your eyes.” Chrissy looked at him with questioning eyes but closed them anyways. She felt Jeremy step onto the step she was on as he gently placed something on top of her head. She could tell they were really close because Chris could feel Jeremy’s warm breath on her face. She felt his hand go to the sides of her waist as he spun her around towards the mirror. “Open your eyes.” He whispered in her ear. Chris did and when she saw herself she knew her outfit was complete. “Now you’re a princess.” Chrissy saw the small but elegant tiara on top of her head and knew it was perfect. It seemed like everything was perfect, or was it? “Chrissy, you look absolutely amazing!” “Thanks Jess.” Chris smiled sweetly at her. “This is the one, it’s… perfect.” Chrissy and Jess stain in the store a little while longer because they found some shoes that matched great. Jeremy left while Chris was changing out of her dress because he said he had some movie work to do, but neither Jess nor Chris believed it. He gave Chris another sad smile as he left, which just made her feel worse. I was as if Jeremy was trying to be happy for her but he just couldn’t, because he felt she was making the wrong decision, jus like back in California. So again the two kept there sides and went with what they felt was right.
