i got home and instantly jogged up to my room to charge my battery. when i walked out of my room i called out to anyone who was home. no response.
"hello?" i asked. "lauren? karen? dad?"
no response.
"oh score!" i exclaimed because i realized i had the house to myself.
i ran back into my room and undid the floorboards, i had time to get high. yes! something i haven't done in too long. so i took my stash and my trusty lighter then headed downstairs. i closed the door behind myself and cracked a window then took a deep breath before lighting up.
i was laid out on the floor, laughing. i was flying! i was laughing because i was flying around my house and no one could catch me. when i heard the floorboards above me creak, i started to laugh even harder. then i decided to stop flying because-- well, because i just wanted too.
"jesse?" a voice yelled out.
i was still laughing so i couldn't respond.
"jesse!"
still laughing.
then i decided to get up but i fell down. so i started laughing again, i was just flying a second ago but now i can't walk. how crazy is that? so i stood up slowly and regained my balance.
"i'm walking!" i exclaimed and threw my arms up in success.
"jesse?"
"in the...the..."
what's the name of the room i'm in?
"the...the.....underground house! i'm in the underground house!"
"underground house?" the person echoed then jogged towards the door that led to the underground house. "jesse, not again! no!"
lauren. it had to be lauren. or was her name lisa? or geez. i hated when i can't remember the peoples name.
"jess! no! i refuse to let you do this!" she yelled while walking towards me.
"you found me!" i smiled and gave her the thumbs-up.
"what the hell are you doing to yourself?" she screeched. "you must want to end up dead by your eighteenth birthday!"
i just stood there, watching the angry girl yell or do whatever she was doing at me.
"you called the basement the underground house!" she yelled, she was turning red in the face. "you're ruining everything! everything!"
i just watched her turn red. she was turning into a tomato, a very angry tomato. soon, she was mute so i just nodded in agreement. i tried to suppress my laughing but couldn't. she was a tomato! she was red like a tomato! how funny is that?
"you're red." i laughed while pointing at her.
she stared at me then shook her head. i remember her saying something...then....nothing..because everything went black. pitch black. i woke up and my eyes felt too heavy to open. i was laying on my back, in the basement, on the floor.
i groaned before rubbing my head because i felt sick. really sick. my stomach was rumbling and growling.
"i don't feel too hot." i groaned, clutching my stomach.
the walls were moving, the ceiling was spinning, and i was extremely cold.
"help." i called out weakly.
i felt trapped.
"help." i whispered before feeling a pit in my stomach.
i stood up quickly then jogged over to the bathroom and threw up in the toilet. my head was splitting in pain, my throat was burning, and my hands were shaking. after i threw up, i wiped away the tears in my eyes and stood up slowly.
"oh crap." i sighed while rubbing my temples.
i walked upstairs and saw karen and lauren sitting in the kitchen, sitting at the counter eating ice cream. karen is forty-seven or forty-something but looks about in her early thirties. probably because she's a supreme health nut. she has a peach skin tone, shoulder length dirty blonde hair that she usually wore in ponytails or buns, emerald green eyes that turned a murky green with gold sometimes, a clear complexion, thin lips, five foot eight, muscular, and kinda pretty. she's wearing a long sleeve black shirt that is covered by a full-length red apron, blue jeans, and gray slippers. her hair was in a loose ponytail
"hey jess." karen smiled. "it's about time you woke up."
i nodded, not knowing what she was talking about then started upstairs.
"jesse?"
i was in the doorway and turned around slowly then leaned against the door frame.
"are you okay? you look pale." karen said while walking towards me.
i backed up, not wanting her to touch me. i didn't feel like being talked to now.
"i'm fine. i'm just tired." i said, still backing up towards the stairs. "i....i'm fine."
"do you want dinner?"
"i'm not hungry." i said, turning my back to her then walked upstairs.
when i got into my room, i closed the door behind myself and laid down on my bed. my stomach wasn't growling anymore, it just felt empty. so maybe i was hungry but i couldn't walk anymore. the ground was spinning too much, i'd eat something later.
then it went pitch black, again.
"jesse!" a voice yelled.
i didn't even feel like groaning in response, i felt like sleeping. so i decided to just remain sleeping.
"jesse! pancakes!"
my ears perked up, i'm extremely hungry. but i don't want to get up, what a predicament. so i opened my eyes and my eyes stung, stung horribly.
"jess!"
i threw my covers to the side and sat up slowly, i looked at the clock; 6:55 a.m. i got up then sauntered downstairs and into the kitchen where a smell of pancakes was in abundance. i sat down at the counter and karen placed a plate infront of me.
"you were tired." she said before placing the syrup before my as well.
"yeah." i nodded before drowning my pancakes in syrup, just how i liked them. "where's lauren?"
"in the shower." karen nodded. "i think she's getting a ride from lilly," brief pause to flip the pancakes in the skillet. "why isn't she getting rides from you anymore jess?"
i stuffed a few pieces of pancakes into my mouth and shrugged. i didn't care, lauren doesn't bother me anymore, we don't talk, and most importantly she doesn't need a ride from me to school. what's not to like?
"did you two get into a fight?"
i shrugged again then chugged most of my milk.
"you--"
"i'm going to get ready." i interrupted before shoveling another pancake into my mouth.
i got up then walked towards the stairs, lauren was jogging down them.
"wasn't expecting to see you." she sighed while jogging past me.
"i was hoping not to see you." i said, still walking upstairs.
"please die."
"only if i take you with me."
i walked up to my room and into my room to get dressed. i took a quick shower, applied deodorant, then changed into my clothes. a large red hoodie that read; 'surf city, new jersey' in large white letters. a place that i visited every summer with gabriel and randy for the 'hug the waves' competition. i usually came in second or third place while randy and gabriel didn't place. then put on simpson boxers, my faded baggy blue jeans, and black vans. i put a dog tag chain around my neck then combed through my hair once or twice. i grabbed my cell, the battery wasn't fully charged and then i grabbed my bag and slung it over my shoulder. i jogged downstairs and was still hungry.
"morning son." dad smiled and looked up from his newspaper briefly.
"hey." i said while opening the fridge then picked off a piece of roasted chicken that was for dinner a few days ago then popped it into my mouth.
"how was your sleep?"
"terrific." i said absent-mindedly then closed the fridge. "well, i'm going to go."
i grabbed my keys then walked towards the back door.
"not taking your little sister?" dad asked.
"nope." i said then opened the door and walked out.
i didn't feel like staying at home, i felt like getting out of the house and staying out. i still felt sick, don't get me wrong. but i felt a bit better once i stepped out of the house. i walked into the garage and over to my car. i got in, started it, opened the garage door and pulled out.
thanks for the comments! love em'
