Hey guys. Well, here is the sequel I promised to "Jilted". I have no idea if this is any good....so I need some feedback.
JILTED 2::SPIDEY'S REVENGE
CHAPTER 1
It was the most anticipated day of Julia Garrett's eighteen years. The day of her release from the New Salem institution for criminal youth.
Had it only been four years since Jeremy died? That day Julia had quickly been arrested. Her lawyer had come up with an insanity defense that kept her thankfully out of prison but instead got her sent to an institution which specialized in violent and troubled adolescents.
Not soon after Julia was imprisoned the jailor came to her cell to inform her that she was responsible for yet another death, although this time indirectly.
Dr. Barbara Carlson. The physiatrist that Jeremy had the hots for.
When the doctor had been informed of Jeremy's murder only moments after their telephone conversation had ended, she completely lost her mind with grief. Barbara was kept on suicide watch but somehow managed a way to obtain some pills.....
The jailor unlocked Julia's cell and pulled back the door. "Time to go."
Julia rose from the sitting position on her bed. She had very few belongings and those that she had she was leaving behind. All her clothes, books, cds. She wanted nothing brought back with her to her new life. Even the beloved poems she had written and taped to the wall those too would stay. She wanted the whole world to know that she had been there.
Julia walked down the long hallway. The last time she ever would.
"I don't know how you've done it but you've fooled everyone. I don't believe for a second that you're cured. You're still the same crazy psycho you were when they first brought you here, " the jailor said.
Julia ignored the fat b^tch and kept looking straight ahead. She was dying to cuss her out but didn't want to do anything that might screw up her chances of getting out of this hellhole.
The jailor opened the door and there in the waiting area were Julia's parents. She hadn't seen them in so long. She was genuinely happy to see them.
"Mom! Dad!" she cried, rushing towards them.
"Julia, honey!" Her parents enveloped her in a huge hug.
"I thought this day would never come," Mrs. Garrett said tearfully.
"Aww Mom, don't cry. It's gonna be okay now," Julia assured her.
"My girl looks beautiful," Mr. Garrett said, fighting back tears himself. "We're going to get you out of here. Just a few more minutes, Julia."
While her parents signed the last few forms that would release her, Julia paced around the room. She caught a movement outside the window and stopped. Outside the gated entrance to the institution was a boy on a skateboard. Julia smiled. How she missed her board! How she missed boys, period!
In this place she wasn't allowed to do sh*t except sit in her cell or work on art projects in the art room. She wanted nothing to do with the f^ckers in this place. They were crazy as hell and dangerous.
Unlike her. She laughed at the private joke then glanced back deviously at her parents.
Maybe she could slip out and go talk to that guy. She was just about to sneak out the door when she heard her dad say they were ready.
Her mom came up to her and put her arm around her, leading Julia out the door. "You don't know how good it's going to be to have you home with us again."
Julia nodded absently, her mind still on skater. Out in the parking lot, she got into the backseat of her parent's car. When the car passed through the gates, she craned her neck, searching for the skateboarder but he was already gone.
Disappointed, she settled back in her seat and zoned out as her parents kept up a stream of constant happy chatter on the fifty mile drive back home. Julia didn't talk much and barely concentrated on what they were saying. She was just enjoying the feeling of being in a car after four long years and trying to figure out what her next move would be in her new life.
When the car crossed over into the Ridgeland city limits, Julia spoke up suddenly. "I wanna go to the cemetery. I wanna visit Denise."
Her parents gave each other troubled looks. "Maybe you should wait about that, Julia," her dad said nervously. "You've had a big day and---"
"Dad, I'm okay, I'm not gonna freak out like I did last time. I promise." Julia knew that her parents were afraid that seeing Denise's grave would cause her to have a "relapse" and behave like she did on the day her sister was buried.
Finally, after a little bit of debating her parents reluctantly agreed. After parking at the cemetery, her parents started to get out of the car but Julia stopped them.
"No, I want to go by myself," she said determinately, slipping out quickly before they could argue with her.
It was so different here than on the day Denise was buried. Then it was cold and windy a typical January day. But now it was April. The sun was shining, birds were singing. Warm breezes blew Julia's long hair.
Stopping for a moment, Julia picked some wildflowers for Denise. She passed by Patti's grave. A mausoleum had been built around it. A way for her parents to protect her grave from anymore vandalism. A padlock secured the door of the granite monument. But Julia had no interest in Patti anymore. The girl could finally rest in peace.
Arriving at Denise's grave, Julia knelt down and gently placed the flowers on top of it. The inscription on the heart shaped gravestone read:
Denise Garrett
Born July 19,1987- Died December 29, 2005
Beloved daughter and sister.
Always on our minds..always in our hearts forever.
"Hey Denise," Julia said softly. "It's me....Spidey. They released me from the institution today. I'm free." Julia paused for a moment. "I hope you and Jeremy are finally happy together." Tears filled her eyes and threatened to spill over. "Why did you have to leave me, Denise?" Julia cried, pounding the ground in frustration. "Why? How am I gonna make it without my big sis? Julia wiped her eyes. "But I guess I'll have to...I have no choice. I'll continue on someway." She glanced at her watch and stood up. "Well, Mom and Dad are waiting on me. Guess I better go."
Julia blew the tombstone a kiss and began walking to the other side of the cemetery. She had never seen Jeremy's grave before and had decided to visit it. His tombstone was rectangle shaped with a basketball etched on it. It was hard to believe that gorgeous guy was under the ground and she was the one responsible for putting him there. Julia sighed. It was a shame and a waste. But it was Jeremy's fault he had to die. He should have married Denise like he promised. Julia turned to leave and that's when she saw him.
Jeremy.
Just a few feet away, watching her.
